In the stars for Girard-Perregaux

Luxury Swiss watch brand Girard-Perregaux has launched it latest timepiece with a model inspired by the star signs of the zodiac.

The Cat’s Eye Annual and Zodiac Calendars contain a specially crafted movement that allows civil time to be brought together with the lunar cycle and the zodiac cycle.

Incorporated into the design on the mother-of-pearl face, a diamond lucky star guides the signs of the zodiac which move alongside the months of the year.

In the centre of the dial, the moon shows its various faces. And at 2 o'clock, the date completes the annual calendar, with a device that automatically allows for months of different lengths.

The oval style timepiece is made in white or rose gold and set with 68 diamonds (about 0.68 carats) on the bezel. A version with pave diamond around the casing is also available.

The complex set of functions requires about 60 manufacturing steps to construct. It is driven by a mechanical movement with automatic winding which is can be seen through a transparent case-back. The watches are also water resistant to 30 metres.
