Beaverbrooks speeds up online fraud checks

Beaverbrooks has stepped up security on its transactional website to combat fraudulent transactions. The UK jewellery retailer has installed the Authenticate Pro system from Experian to verify the identity of all online customers before orders are shipped.

Beaverbrooks said that repeat orders have increased significantly since implementing the software as it is able to confirm orders and ship goods much faster. Beaverbrooks website manager Kyle Heywood said: “Since using the product, we have seen a noticeable reduction in time spent on fraud and, as such, our ordering process is much slicker.”

Authenticate Pro is embedded into Beaverbrooks' customer application form and an identity check is performed once the contact details for the order are submitted. Data provided by the consumer is matched against information held on Experian's databases, flagging any suspicious activity that could indicate identity fraud, account takeover or a bogus delivery address.

Experian head of UK data authentication James Blake said: “As fraudulent transactions are generally charged back to the retailer by the financial institutions, it is important to have robust measures in place to verify customers at point of transaction. Fortunately the technology is now there to make this process quick and painless.”
