Timex buys Marc Ecko trademark

Marc Ecko watches will now be designed, manufactured and marketed globally by Timex Group, which has bought the brand’s trademark. Timex has been the licensee of the Marco Ecko watch brand since 2002.

Timex president and chief executive Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard said the purchase of the Marc Ecko brand is part of its strategy to increase its share of owned brands as opposed to licensed brands. He added: “The purchase of the Marc Ecko trademark in the watch category aligns with our strategy to build brands that represent global growth.'

The Ecko brand will be housed in the Timex business unit led by Timex president Adam Gurian. Gurian said: “The purchase of the Ecko trademark dovetails with our strategy to develop new distribution opportunities through the evolution of both fashion and technology. Key to this success will be the use of total group technology resources in conjunction with our core brand development team.”

Marc Ecko watches are currently sold in more than 35 countries.
