The Retail Trust launches talent competition

The Retail Trust has announced a nationwide talent competition to find UK retail’s hidden talent. Entitled Retail Trust Search for a Star, the campaign is open to entrants who work in retail and aims to raise awareness of the services provided by the Retail Trust.

Budding singers, dancers, comedians, bands and variety acts are encouraged to participate as representatives of the retail industry. The Retail Trust said that it hopes the campaign will provide the retail sector with “something to celebrate and enjoy”.

Nick Robertson, chief executive of Asos and one of the leading industry figures involved with the campaign, said: “Retail Trust Search For A Star is the perfect opportunity for the retail sector to get involved in a project which is completely different to the usual everyday activities. I’m looking forward to seeing what talents will be unearthed.”

Auditions will take place in September in both London and Manchester. From mid October, retailers and the public will be able to vote for their favourite act. The top four finalists will perform live at the Retail Trust London Ball at the Grovesnor House Hotel in January 2010.
