Beaverbrooks named third best company to work for

Beaverbrooks the Jewellers has come third in The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For survey.

Beaverbrooks the Jewellers, which has headquarters in Lytham St Annes, has come third this year after topping the list in 2009. Managing director, Mark Adlestone, gained a 90% score for staff having faith in him. The 782-strong workforce is happy with pay (75%) and the company donates 20% of pre-tax profit to charities (as well as organising a yearly fun run for good causes). The company won the overall 100 Best Companies competition in 2009 and finished third this year, the fifth successive year it has finished in the top four overall.

High street jewellers were well represented in this year’s Best Companies’ contests. Signet – the company behind the H Samuel and Ernest Jones jewellery chains among others – ranked seventh in the big companies’ list, in this, its first appearance.

The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For survey is compiled from results given by employees to 70 questions related to workplace culture, covering their company’s leadership; their personal wellbeing; career development; pay and benefits; their feelings towards colleagues, managers and the company as a whole; and giving something back to the community and environment.
