Jewellery tops Christmas list for one in 10 British women

One in 10 British women think that jewellery is the best present to receive for Christmas, according to research by television and online retailer QVC.

Results from the research also emphasised the important role that jewellery retailer employees play when helping people select a present for their loved one, after more than a million of those women questioned stated that they have re-evaluated their relationship as a result of a poorly chosen gift.

One in five (22%) of women agreed that their partner’s choice of gift says a lot about their knowledge of them and their specific tastes, while one in 10 (10%) said they think jewellery is the best present to receive from their partner at Christmas.

Over a third (38%) of British women admitted to pointing out products they like, while one in six (16%) prefer to show their partners something they love that has broken or is looking tired and is in need of a replacement.

One in five women (17%) said that they intend to tell their partner exactly what they want under the tree this Christmas rather than leaving their other half to decide.

QVC senior jewellery buyer Gemma Savage said: “It seems women are keener than ever to feel special this Christmas and their men are under pressure to get it right. We know that this has been a difficult financial year but you don’t need to spend a fortune to buy the perfect gift, there are lots of different options that are attainable for everyone, no matter what budget you are working to.”
