CMJ launches gift card option for retailers

The Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) is giving retailers the opportunity to offer their customers gift cards.

The buying group’s gift card option allows retailers to order bespoke credit card-style gift cards, which can then be offered to shop customers. The cards are credited with a specified amount of money, which the gift recipient can then use towards a purchase in store.

Launched through CMJ Media, the media, marketing and PR specialist arm of the CMJ, retailers can order bespoke gift card packs and promotional in-store display material. A spokesperson said that the cards are compatible with most current retail systems.

CMJ chief executive Willie Hamilton said: “At the CMJ, we recognise the needs of independent retailers and support our members through a range of cost-effective marketing and sales tools, which we can offer through the collective strength of the group.

“Gift cards are a great and easy way for retailers to encourage repeat business and create the potential to upsell. This initiative enables CMJ independent retailers to offer the same kind of professional gift card service that is offered by multiples and department stores, helping our independent retail jewellers to compete more effectively on the high street.”
