BFC launches jewellery showcase for London Fashion Week

The British Fashion Council has announced its jewellery initiative,’BFC Rock Vault, which will showcase 10 jewellery designers during London Fashion Week, which runs from February 17-21.

The jewellers who have been selected to showcase their AW12 collections are Alexandra Jefford, Fernando Jorge, Hannah Martin, Hillier, Husam El Odeh, Jo Hayes Ward, Jordan Askill, Melanie Georgacopoulos, Sophie Bille Brahe and Tomasz Donocik. The event will be launched on February 18 at Somerset House, where these designers will be given support towards creating their own installation while receiving business mentoring support.

Those selected must be based in the UK with an existing business of less than eight years.

“Over the last 10 years, jewellery has become an integral part of both men and woman’s wardrobe,” said Stephen Webster, curator of the BFC Rock Vault. “This meteoric rise has meant jewellery designers have been crying out for inclusion within the established fashion platforms. Rock Vault finally offers such an opportunity.”

Sponsored by the International Palladium Board (IPB), the initiative was developed to help new designers get exposure and further develop their businesses.
