This partnering is a result of a rise in snatch thefts, which has corresponded with the hike in gold prices ($1,678 at the time of writing).

According to bbc.co.uk, in Harrow there were six reported incidences of snatch theft of gold chains in May alone, while in Lewisham, also in May, two snatch thefts and a break-in was reported.

Asian women seem to be being targeted and police have warned them not to display their jewellery when out in public.
