Coronation Street actress at Mays opening in Oldham
Coronation Street star Shobna Gulati, who plays the Street’s Sunita Alahan, attended the opening of Mays Pawnbrokers and Jewellers Oldham store last Saturday.
The soap actress was at the opening of the pawnbrokers and jewellers in the town’s Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre.
Established in 1825, Mays has moved to the Spindles Centre from its previous Manchester Street location. Local shoppers turned up to see Gulati cut the golden ribbon to declare the new store officially open for business.
Gulati said: “I was proud to be asked to open Mays’s new store in my home town of Oldham – it is great to see a company with such long associations with the town doing well and expanding its reach and creating jobs in the process.
“The launch day event was great fun – and the models looked stunning.”
Two models, each dressed from head to toe in gold or silver costumes and metallic body paint, also proved an attraction for the launch day and highlighted Mays’s cash for gold and silver service.
Mays commercial director Nick Withington said: “Our launch day event was a huge success as many of Shobna’s fans came to see her and to find out a bit more about Mays and the services we offer. Having had a store in Oldham for over 80 years, we welcomed regular customers alongside new - and we look forward to welcoming them back to our Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre store soon.”
The new Oldham shop offers Mays’s full portfolio of services, including pawnbroking; cash for gold and silver; new and pre-owned jewellery retail; jewellery repairs and watch valuations by appointment.
