BJA launches membership awards
To celebrate its 125th anniversary the British Jewellers’ Association (BJA) has launched a membership awards programme to recognise the efforts and contribution that BJA members and its suppliers make to the UK jewellery industry.
The programme, which marks the BJA’s 125th anniversary this year, officially launches at the Jewellery Show at Spring Fair, which starts at the Birmingham NEC on Sunday, but a spokesperson said that there has already been significant interest.
The nomination process has already started and BJA members are invited to submit their entries for five distinct categories: BJA Member of the Year; BJA Supplier of the Year; BJA Industry Contributor of the Year; BJA Designer of the Year and BJA Retailer of the Year.
The nomination submission period closes on September 10 when the entries will be shortlisted by an industry-wide judging panel. Voting for the winners will finish on November 26. The awards programme will then culminate in a black tie ceremony at the Jewellery and Giftware Ball, which this year will be held in Birmingham on December 6.
BJA Marketing and PR Manager Lindsey Straughton said: “Through this new awards programme, we are absolutely delighted to promote the efforts of our membership. Too often, the great work and service our members provide to the industry goes unrecognised and this new initiative is a great opportunity to showcase their products, services and achievements.
She added: “Winners will receive a special commemorative plaque, and of course, the plaudits from their peers!”
Both winners and shortlisted nominees will be given use of a special BJA logo celebrating their achievement.
