Independent Emson Haig joins CMJ

Independent retailer Emson Haig has become a member of the Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ).

The latest edition to the buying group has two Essex-based stores, the first of which was established over 19 years ago and is in the Lakeside Shopping Centre. The second store in Loughton has been open for seven years.

Emson Haig managing director David Shone said: “I’ve been approached by other buying groups in the past but could never see the benefit of becoming a member. However, the CMJ has changed beyond all recognition in the past few years, and its progressive and commercial vision fits perfectly with Emson Haig’s business strategy.”

CMJ chief executive Willie Hamilton added that the relationship will be mutually beneficial. “Emson Haig is a progressive, well-established independent retail jeweller - probably one of the best in the UK - so I am delighted to welcome them to the CMJ. With such a successful business behind David and his team, I have no doubt we will also be able to learn much from Emson Haig’s business model.”
