John Lunn appointed as Lunn's managing director

John Lunn has been appointed as managing director of Lunn’s, taking over from Peter Lunn who becomes executive chairman of the Board.

John Lunn is the third generation of the family to take on the leadership of the three-store Northern Ireland-based business since its foundation in 1954.

Suzanne Lunn, who was previously marketing manager and is also John’s sister, is taking on the role of marketing director.

John Lunn, aged 30, is a graduate in business and Spanish from Sheffield University and has spent his career in the jewellery business, having worked as an intern for Cartier in Madrid and for two years as a junior specialist and cataloguer in Christies fine jewellery department in London, as well as having played many roles within Lunn’s since first starting to work there in the summers of his school days.

John is also a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, California.

Lunn’s chairman Peter Lunn said: “The general retail environment is very difficult at the moment but Lunn’s has always tried to innovate and stay ahead of its competition. John has worked at home and abroad and he will bring a new dynamism to the leadership of the business and I have every confidence that this new role for John and Suzanne’s role as marketing director comes at the right time for Lunn’s, though I will also continue to play an active role as chairman and expand our online Portfolio of Fine Diamonds business, which now has a growing number of partners in towns and cities across the UK.”

Lunn’s has three shops, two in Belfast and one in Londonderry. Speaking about his new appointment, John Lunn added: “It is a privilege and an honour to take on the leadership of this great company and I’m looking forward to moving Lunn’s ahead in a progressive and innovative way. I know that I have the support and combined experience of the entire team to assist me and while the trading environment is difficult at the moment, I’m confident we have the products and the relationships that will continue to drive the business forward for generations to come.”
