Laings of Glasgow to expand into new unit in Argyll Arcade
Scottish jewellery retailer Laings of Glasgow has acquired another retail unit in the Argyll Arcade and plans to expand and open it as a new flagship store by the end of the year.
The unit sits beside Laings of Glasgow’s current store and occupies a prime corner location within the historic jewellery quarter. As part of a wider refurbishment programme, both stores will be combined into one 3,000 sq ft jewellery emporium.
Laings of Glasgow is now in its sixth generation with the introduction of Wendy Laing, daughter of current owner Stuart Laing, and her husband Joe Walsh, who join the family business as directors.
Wendy Laing has a lot of experience in the industry, from working in the store from an early age to working with luxury brand LVMH for eight years.
Joe Walsh, a qualified engineer and ACA, was working in mergers and acquisitions in a global accountancy practice before making the move into the family business with Wendy.
The new flagship store will open later this year and Wendy is confident that it will attract new customers and appeal to current fans of Laings of Glasgow.
She said: “The expansion is a huge project and we’re looking forward to introducing the new in-store watch boutiques for our luxury brands, Patek Philippe, Rolex, IWC and Cartier. We’re excited about the future of the business and the completion of this extensive expansion programme to create a new flagship store.
“The new store will soon be fully operational and will enable us to increase our current collections and offer new brands.”
Laings of Glasgow was recently named as an ‘Inspiring Independent’ in a list compiled by Retail Jeweller.
