Lonmin Design Innovation award open for entries

The platinum jewellery design competition is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a “Red Carpet Glamour” theme, the first time it has set a theme in the competition’s history.

The brief is to “create an original platinum jewellery design for the red carpet that channels the glamour of the 1920s and 1930s into a creation that confidently belongs in the 21st century” and designers have until Friday April 20 to enter.

The award has two categories and is open to both those designers who have over five years’ commercial experience and those with fewer than five years in the industry. It is sponsored by Lonmin, one of the world’s largest producers of platinum, and supported by International Jewellery London and Johnson Matthey.

Eight winners will be selected and the winning entries will be made in order to be displayed at IJL in September on the Lonmin stand.
