MB&F opens its M.A.D gallery in Geneva

The Swiss watch brand known for its three-dimensional high-end timepieces has opened the gallery to act as a creative platform for both MB&F’s own designs as well as other mechanical art devices from around the world.

The space contains pieces such as “Machine Lights”, concept lights created by Berlin-based designer Frank Buchwald, hand-blown glass from Marc Newson, metallic sculptures by Chinese artist Xia Hang and a toy car designed by Slovenian designer Nika Zupanc. The collection will evolve with new arrivals planned throughout the year.

MB&F decided to create the gallery in order to contextualise its own Horological and Legacy machines.

“We saw the M.A.D.Gallery as the perfect platform to showcase our own Machines as well as other pieces of kinetic art by other creators whom we greatly admire,” said MB&F founder and creator Maximilian Büsser. “MB&F create Machines that tell the time. They are unique examples of mechanical horology but, more than that, they are pieces of three-dimensional kinetic art. The same goes for all the creators featured in the gallery: their craft transcends a practical purpose and their creations assume the status of artworks. Thanks to the M.A.D.Gallery we are meeting like-minded artists operating in parallel worlds; people who think like us and share our passion for creating kinetic art.”

The gallery is based in Rue Verdaine, in Geneva.
