The Houlden Group brings in leading business expert for buying group meeting

The event, which takes place from February 13–15 will include a session with Dr Jonathan Levie using a Harvard University Business School case study based on real life business issues.

Dr Levie is a reader and director of Knowledge Exchange in the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship at the University of Strathclyde and is delivering the session on behalf of Strathclyde Business School. The School is one of only 48 in the world to be triple accredited, holding accreditation from the international bodies, AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS. The interactive and practical session, a first for the industry, is intended to give members a competitive edge by enhancing their knowledge and skills.

Stuart Laing, chief executive of the Houlden Group thinks that the session will be an exercise in fighting the recession because, “members will be encouraged to take a good look at their own businesses throughout the session and will be pushed to discover solutions to the problems the case study presents”.

In addition to this pioneering session, members have the opportunity to hear from other industry speakers including Michael Allchin from the Birmingham Assay Office, Julie Driscoll from The Jewellery Show and Jonathan Chippindale from Holition, as well as a networking dinner in the evening.
