Special sales revive cooldiamonds.com 17 Feb 2009 | View Readers Comments By Rachael TaylorCooldiamonds.com had a welcome boost after a tough Christmas when it sold a few large stones in January. The rocks pushed the retailer’s sales up 47% on the same period last year.
The retailer had suffered in the run up to Christmas as consumer spending slowed in the last quarter of the year. Cooldiamonds.com director Michel Einhorn said that trading was down about 20% on Christmas 2007.
Cooldiamonds.com said that its sales have suffered as a result of the declining value of diamonds brought on by a dramatic cut in mining. It added that this general market condition has affected every category with the exception of the wedding market, which Einhorn expects to grow, forecasting increased marriages this year .
Cooldiamonds.com is a luxury diamond company based in London’s Hatton Garden.
