LeJu confirms Oxfam jewellery link up 14 Apr 2009 | View Readers Comments By Rachael TaylorLeJu has confirmed that it will be providing Oxfam with a range of ethical vegetable ivory jewellery, as reported in this month’s Retail Jeweller. The charity retailer will initially stock the brand in five stores from July 1.
Oxfam has ordered the Bubble and So necklaces, the Aniko ring, and the Palma and Carnaby earrings, ranging in retail prices from £14 to £47. All the designs are from LeJu’s 2007 and 2008 collections, enabling Oxfam to achieve a lower price than it would have if it had bought LeJu’s newest designs and so boosting the profits going back into the charity.
LeJu has already created an exclusive collection for ethical etailer Adili and is in talks with a major fashion brand about another partnership. In the April issue of Retail Jeweller, LeJu partner Juan Munoz said: “We are keeping busy, there are lots of things in the pipeline.”
All LeJu’s jewellery is made from vegetable ivory, which is a sustainable alternative to elephant tusk ivory. This season, the brand has introduced silver beads to its designs.
