Houlden Group and GIA sign for reduced education rates

The Houlden Group has signed an agreement with the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) to offer a reduced rate to its members for the Institute’s gemmological courses.

The jewellery and watch buying group’s members will receive a reduced rate on GIA’s eLearning courses and classes at the London campus. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics including diamonds, coloured gemstones, pearl grading and gem identification.

Established in 1931, GIA is a leading authority on diamonds, coloured gemstones and pearls.

Houlden Group chief executive Stuart Laing said: “GIA is a very well respected organisation tasked with upholding the highest standards of integrity and quality in the jewellery industry.

“The agreement to offer reduced rates on GIA’s highly regarded courses for Houlden Group members is significant as many great people from the gem and jewellery field started out as GIA students.”

The GIA is also pleased to be supporting the Group. GIA education director Edward Johnson said: “We are pleased to serve the constituency of this renowned jewellery and watch buying organisation.

“Education is a critical component to everyone in the industry value chain, including buyers. Our goal with this offering is to support Houlden Group members who wish to professionalise themselves by achieving the most up-to-date gemmological knowledge, which is a powerful tool in this industry.”
