Lapponia's guest designer revealed

Lapponia Jewelry has revealed its guest designer for 2012 as Mari Isopahkala.

Isopahkala’s competition entry entitled Pisara – Drop – won the first prize in the Next Episode jewellery design competition announced by Finnish jeweller Lapponia to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary.

Mari’s competition entry serves as a basis for the Winter Pearl collection.

The Pisara jewellery features clusters of glimmering spherical silver, depicting morning dew on leaves and grass sparkling in the first rays of the rising sun.

The original Pisara jewellery has been turned into the Winter Pearl collection through the addition of frost, predicting the approach of winter, conveyed by the rimy matte surface. One of Lapponia’s skilled model goldsmiths helped work out technical solutions in silver.

Speaking about working with Lapponia, Isopahkala said: “To me, Lapponia jewellery fuses artistic vision and technical skill. Rendering personal experiences into a wearable object has always interested me.”
