Magelluna channels inspiration from the moon

The dome-shaped, space travel-inspired Magelluna from Megellan Swiss watches plays homage to the moon.

The watch, which depicts the moon and features hands shaped to enable them to closely follow the moon’s outline, is made from steel – which has undergone a special PVD/CVD blackening treatment. Its understated rubber strap highlights the curves of the half-moon.

The case, measuring 43.5 mm in diameter and 19 mm, is powered by a self-winding ETA 2892 movement. The galvanic grey dial is adorned with Roman numerals, and the elegant tones give the domed model galactic charm.

As part of a modification from previous models, the sapphire crystal of the Magelluna is no longer cemented to the case but is instead placed on a bezel that is screwed to the case. This revision, a technical step undertaken by Magellan Watch CEO Mario G Nargi, is part of his ambition to give the watch more “horological” substance.
