Salon QP launches in style at The Saatchi and Saatchi Gallery: SEE PHOTOS

Prestigious annual watch event Salon QP kicked off last night in elegant style at The Saatchi and Saatchi Gallery.

The bright, clean space was an apt setting to showcase the array of high-end watches. Now in its third year, the luxury event for watch enthusiasts has grown in size in terms of exhibitors and expected visitors and this year, as well as offering a range of informative talks, includes an exhibition by the Fondation de la Haute Horologerie called Mechanical Horology from its Origins to the Present Day. The exhibition, was put together especially for Salon QP and shows how far time-keeping has come over the seven centuries since the first weight-driven clocks appeared in the 13th century.

One of the highlights of last night’s champagne laden launch was the attendance of Ronnie Wood, from Rolling Stones fame who has moved into art, and is now collaborating with British watch company Bremont. His appearance drew a crowd to the Bremont stand. Read about the collaboration here.

The range of timepieces on show was impressive and just a few of those receiving admiration through the duration of Salon QP will be the Bulgari Magsonic Grande Sonnerie Tourbillon; the Tag Heuer Mikrotimer Flying 1000; the Zenith Striking 10th; Harry Winston’s new Ocean Sport Collection and A. Lange & Söhne’s chiming wristwatch the Lange Zeitwerk Striking Time.
