Hello boys and girls! I am returning to do my travel blog for the lovely Retail Jeweller and this time, jewellery or bijoux as I like to call it takes me back to LA.
As many of you who know me are aware, this is my second home and I love this town – for all its madness, outrageousness but also its spirit of achievement and celebration of success, everyone is dreaming and doing something to further themselves.
I have been having a great few months back in London prior to this trip and really enjoyed catching up with everyone at IJL where I launched with Simon Ogilvie- Harris our foray into the ethical world with Peruvian inspired brand Chavin. I have also been enjoying spending time with the utterly divine and professional Elizabeth Galton with whom I am featured on her new inspiring jewellery site, EG Studio. Right, enough shameless self-promo now onto the fun stuff in LA.
Since I arrived I have had pretty bad jet-lag but am now on my toes again and have scheduled many appointments with press, stylists and celeb dressers – basically all my mates! I always find LA is an amazing place to network as its such a beauty/luxury-goods driven town. On Monday, it was pretty surreal as I hooked up with a dear old friend of mine and we hit a place called Urth Cafe which is in West Hollywood- its our fave hangout, but its notoriously always full of celebs because its pretty low key – we bumped into Jack Osbourne there which was pretty mad. There was me thinking all those paps with big lenses were pointing them at me – one day!
Yesterday was another pretty mad day for me as I met up with my agents and was told that Lindsay Lohan who is a client of mine considered me as a contact! ok exact words were when we were showing her some pieces, ‘I know the designer, she’s a friend of mine’!!! quote unquote Lindsay Lohan! After this lovely experience I thought I would go and treat myself to a spot of afternoon sunbathing, so I went to what I thought was my local park. Now all the local parks in LA seem to have some big looking stately home/mansion in the grounds so I didnt really think anything of it when I pitched up in this one particular one near my house. So, I get there all hot and bothered and pitch up in bikini and strip off on the lawn, little did I relise that I was sunbathing on someone’s lawn!! It was a private Beverly Hills mansion, as I was told by the less than impressed gardener- he was probably thinking who’s this lunatic!!
Anyway, off out to an appointment with a new PR agency to work on some strategies for LA and the USA so will keep you posted of all my adventures! I hope you all enjoy reading this blog and a big thankyou to RJ and everyone who has shown an interest and supported me throughout the years- you know who you are!!
