EXCLUSIVE: Jewellery & Watch announces four-day event for 2018

The organisers of Jewellery & Watch have announced that from 2018, the show will condense to a four-day event.

The decision to shorten the show by one day follows extensive feedback from visitors and exhibitors alike, with 100% of buyers stating that a four-day show would not impact their visit, and a tighter new schedule would give their visit greater focus.

An overwhelming majority of buyers and exhibitors also stated that the Thursday would be the best day to release, and so from 2018 onwards, the show will conclude on the Wednesday.

Further changes for the 2018 show will include the introduction of an easy-to-use digital planner, allowing visitors and exhibitors to arrange meetings ahead time, as well as factor in all of the show’s seminar content.

Significant investment will also be made to bring the very best of buying talent to the show, with an enhanced VIP Seasons Club and a bespoke Honours Club in place to ensure a premium on-site experience for key industry players.

Commenting on the change to the length of the show, Andrew Morton managing director of WB The Creative Jewellery Group, said: “This is a very sensible move, Jewellery & Watch have listened extensively to their customers and key retailers in the industry.”

Gary Wroe managing director of Birmingham-based manufacturer Hockley Mint concurred. He added: “Jewellery & Watch have not only listened to their customers but acted upon one of the major concerns, that the show was too long. Reducing the event to four-days makes perfect sense for all stakeholders.”

Julie Driscoll portfolio director for Jewellery & Watch added: “We will continue to respond to industry demand for a focused, inspirational trade environment at the start of the year – a key point in the buying calendar – and look forward to revealing further details later in the year.”

Jewellery & Watch is currently taking place at Birmingham’s NEC and will run until Thursday February 9.
