Final day to enter UK Jewellery Awards

Today (January 27) is the very last day companies can submit entries for the 25th annual UK Jewellery Awards (UKJA), due to be held in June.

The application deadline was extended by one week last Friday following a late surge in the number of entries being submitted.

Anyone yet to submit an entry has until midnight tonight to do so and applications can be received across 14 enterable categories. Those wishing to enter can do so via the UKJA website.

This year’s 25th anniversary event, which has already seen a record number of entries received, takes place on June 29, 2017 and is held in conjunction with headline partner Clogau.

Often dubbed ‘the jewellery industry Oscars’, the UKJA marks the biggest night in the UK jewellery trade’s calendar and is the only event of its kind for the industry, judged by the industry, with a panel of 32 independent judges selected for their expertise from across the jewellery and watch trade.

The awards, which attract in excess of 700 guests each year, recognise excellence across all disciplines in the jewellery and watch business, including retail, design, brands, manufacture and supply.

There are two new categories introduced for the 2017 event to recognise excellence in retail sales and marketing respectively.

A further four non-enterable categories, which include Jewellery Brand of the Year, Watch Brand of the Year, Fine Jewellery Brand of the Year and Outstanding Contribution to the Industry, will be shortlisted by editorial team nomination.

Retail Jeweller editor Ruth Faulkner explained: “The UK Jewellery Awards really are the premier event of the entire UK jewellery industry and winning such an accolade is one of the highest honours any business can receive.

“The awards are independently judged by a select panel of industry experts, who between them have vast experience of all aspects of the jewellery trade, and so anyone who wins one does so in the knowledge that they are the absolute best at what they do.

“Also in 2017 we mark 25 years of the event. This is a huge milestone for us and we look forward to celebrating with everyone at the ceremony in June.”

Those companies who make the awards’ shortlist, ahead of the event in June, will be revealed at a party being held in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter on Sunday, February 5, to coincide with trade show Jewellery & Watch. This will be a free-to-attend event and more details on how to obtain tickets can be found here.
