Hockley Mint partners with TH March to offer insurance incentives to jewellery designers

Birmingham-based fine jewellery manufacturer Hockley Mint has partnered with specialist insurance broker TH March to offer exclusive benefits to all designers who enter its 25th anniversary design competition.

The new collaboration between TH March and Hockley Mint aims to educate and raise awareness among jewellery designers. Highlighting the need for insurance cover to protect against risks such as theft or loss of stock and goods, business interruption and public and products liability.

As a result of this partnership, the winner of Hockley Mint’s competition will receive one year’s worth of free insurance cover. TH March will also offer all entrants to the competition a 10% discount on insurance cover.

At TH March we understand the difficulties young jewellery designers face and it would be such a waste if a promising talent disappeared from the scene due to under-insurance, or worse still, no insurance.

“It is vital that the talented people who represent the future of our UK jewellery trade receive the help they need in order to flourish and that is precisely why we developed our easy to arrange, affordable insurance packages. There are three levels of cover available, with inexpensive set premiums, fixed benefits and no hidden fees.”

The fact that all entrants will also now receive financial help with insurance cover is an important added incentive to take part – and we hope it will help raise awareness of the need for cover.”

Competition entrants wishing to make use of the 10% discount will be issued with a special code by Hockley Mint, which they can then use by visiting and following the green ‘Get a Quote’ button beside their chosen cover option.

Hockley Mint’s design competition officially launched at a drinks reception at the Jewellery & Watch show in Birmingham on February 5.

The winning jewellery piece will be made in Fairtrade silver or gold and may contain elements of Fairtrade gold as well as up to 25pts total of diamonds or gemstones. The one-off piece will be cast by Hockley Mint and unveiled at the International Jewellery London (IJL) show in September. It will then be displayed in Hockley Mint’s refurbished boardroom to commemorate the 25th anniversary. The winner will be presented with a replica of the design at the IJL show, and will also receive prize money of £250 and one year’s free insurance cover.

Designs can be submitted as sketches, drawings or CAD files and the closing date for entries is 5pm on June 2.
