Retail Jeweller’s second annual buying mission to the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and the Hong Kong Diamond Gem and Pearl Show begins today (February 28) when the delegation of 16 buyers lands in Hong Kong.
Run in association with show organisers the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Retail Jeweller, the trip gives UK retailers and suppliers the opportunity to visit the shows for sourcing purposes.
The group will visit both shows and take part in a series of pre-arranged buying meetings with appropriate suppliers.
This year’s trip follows a successful initial trip last year, facilitated by Retail Jeweller, in which 15 buyers from the UK travelled to Hong Kong.
Commenting on last year’s show, Dominic Wakefield director of Wakefields in Horsham said: “I have never been to a show that is so relevant for my business needs, particularly in the non-branded jewellery sector.”
In addition to visiting both shows, the buyers will also attend a number of social activities and a gala dinner.
Retail Jeweller editor Ruth Faulkner has also been invited to sit on the judging panel for the International Jewellery Design Excellence Award 2017, held as part of the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show.
She said: “Retail Jeweller has always enjoyed an excellent and long-standing relationship with the HKTDC and we were delighted to once again be asked to recruit a number of buyers to visit this year’s show.
“As the UK’s leading trade title, it is our belief that we must provide our readers with as many opportunities as possible to better their businesses. The Hong Kong Jewellery shows are among the biggest in the world so this trip is fantastic chance to visit and hopefully find something which enables them to offer their customers a point of difference.
“We are looking forward to another successful and interesting trip this year.”
The Hong Kong Diamond Gem and Pearl Show is currently taking place at the Asia World Expo and runs until March 4 while the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show kicks off on Thursday (March 2) at the Hong Kong Convention Centre and is on until March 6.
