UK Jewellery Awards’ silver anniversary edition launches today

The 25th annual UK Jewellery Awards (UKJA) has officially opened for entries today (October 14) with applicants able to submit entries in 14 categories.

Next year’s event, taking place on June 29, 2017 and held in conjunction with headline partner Clogau, marks the awards’ silver anniversary.

Often dubbed ‘the jewellery industry Oscars’ the UKJA marks the biggest night in the UK jewellery trade’s calendar and is the only event of its kind for the industry, judged by the industry.

The awards recognise excellence across all disciplines in the jewellery and watch business including retail, design, brands, manufacture and supply and applications can be completed via any time from now until the closing date on January 20.

A further four non-enterable categories which include Jewellery Brand of the Year, Watch Brand of the Year, Fine Jewellery Brand of the Year and Outstanding Contribution to the Industry will be shortlisted by editorial team nomination.

Retail Jeweller editor Ruth Faulkner explained: “The UK Jewellery Awards really are the premier event of the entire UK jewellery industry and winning such an accolade is one of the highest honours any business can receive.

“The awards are independently judged by a selected panel of industry experts who between them have vast experience of all aspects of the jewellery trade and so anyone who wins one does so in the knowledge that they are the absolute best at what they do.

“Also in 2017 we mark 25 years of the event. This is a huge milestone for us and we look forward to celebrating with everyone at the ceremony in June.”

The 2017 will also see the UKJA welcome back Welsh jewellery brand Clogau as headline partner for the fourth consecutive year. Clogau managing director Ben Roberts said: “We’re delighted to confirm Clogau’s headline sponsorship for the 2017 UK Jewellery Awards. It’s a wonderful milestone achievement for the event to be celebrating 25 years next year.

“While we continue to focus on the future, it’s important to celebrate the importance of the UKJAs. For 25 years the annual recognition of the incredible talent within our industry, has incentivised all of us to strive to excel. We look forward to what is sure to be, the biggest and best awards ceremony next year.”
