UK Jewellery Awards to toast 25 years with expanded shortlist event during Jewellery & Watch

The UK Jewellery Awards (UKJA) will celebrate its silver anniversary in 2017, marking 25 years since the industry’s most prestigious awards ceremony was launched.

The very first UKJA ceremony was held back in 1992 at the London Hilton on Park Lane and, this year, the awards, which are being held in association with headline partner Clogau, will return to the hotel to celebrate this milestone anniversary.

The 2017 event will officially launch and open for entries on Friday October 14 but Retail Jeweller can exclusively reveal that to mark the announcement of this year’s shortlist a much bigger shortlist event will take place on Sunday February 5 in Birmingham, to coincide with industry trade event Jewellery & Watch.

The UKJA shortlist party in association with Clogau will be held at Saint Paul’s House in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter at the end of the first day of the trade show.

Full details regarding how to obtain tickets for this free event will be unveiled in due course but there will be up to 300 places available for companies which make the shortlist together with brands, retailers and suppliers who will be attending Jewellery & Watch.

Ruth Faulkner editor of Retail Jeweller said: “At last year’s Jewellery & Watch we hosted an event to announce the UKJA shortlist and it proved very popular with the show’s exhibitors and visitors.

“This year, to mark the awards’ landmark silver anniversary, we wanted to expand the event and offer more people the chance to come along, network and toast all of the companies that make the final shortlist.

“What’s more, the opportunity to hold this event in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter during Jewellery & Watch, means that we are uniquely placed at the heart of the industry to connect with as many people as possible and spread the word about the 25th year of the UK Jewellery Awards.”
