In 2014, Ben Hawkins completed a year’s training on the Foundation Programme course at The Goldsmiths’ Centre. During his studies, he won the Catherine Jones of Cambridge competition for his pendant design inspired by the architecture of Cambridge, and the Benvenuto Cellini Award for craftsmanship.
Following this, Hawkins set up his own eponymous brand, Benjamin Hawkins London, making one-off bespoke pieces from a workshop in Hatton Garden. He is also a member of The Lee Alexander McQueen Foundation and has a design studio in the Sarabande headquarters in Haggerston. This is where he produces collaborative design work and is finalising his debut collection to be released at the end of this year.
