Assay Office engineer

The Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office

DOB 24/04/90 age 25

Now part of the highly skilled engineering team within The Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office, Daniel Love started off his engineering career there as an apprentice to engineering supervisor Pat Geary.

He initially undertook work experience at the Assay Office in 2005, before returning a few years later to embark on a full apprenticeship, which he completed in 2012. During his apprenticeship, Love achieved qualifications including a BTEC in Manufacturing and Engineering and NVQ Level 2 and 3, as well as completing an Art Cam Pro training course. Upon completion of his apprenticeship, Love was fully adept at tool-making and skilled in laser punch 3D engraving.

Geary says that, even though Love completed his apprenticeship several years ago now, he continues to want to learn and he is currently enrolled on an electrical course for his second year, which he undertakes completely in his own time, ensuring he has relevant skills for the future and making him an asset to the organisation.

“These extra skills Dan is learning will benefit the company for years to come,” adds Geary.
