And it also allows me a few “pinch me I’m dreaming” moments. That happened when I walked into the Fairmont Hotel in Monte Carlo as a guest of Pandora to see their A/W collection. Floor to ceiling windows showed us an unadulterated view of the sea, which was peppered with yachts; up on the roof a sapphire-blue pool and roof top bar with more stunning views. It was hard to remember that this was actually work.
Of course there were presentations where Pandora outlined its strategy for the next few years – world domination is the short version; showed us its exciting watch collection and unveiled the charms, necklaces and rings that will be hitting stores in the next couple of months (more pics to follow on that).
However there was also a lot of fun to be had. The dinner on Sunday night was hosted in the hotel’s roof top restaurant where the amassed group of retailers and a couple of hangers on (aka journos) perused the collection while the lights of Monte glittered below like precious stones and, despite a couple of presentations on Monday morning, the rest of the day was spent soaking up the rays by the roof top pool.
It’s a tough way to start the week, but someone’s got to do it.
