Juding visits – a class act

Travelling the length and breadth of the country, myself and the rest of the Retail Jeweller team have been stopping in to judge entrants, taking in some of the best the industry has to offer. Having completed all of our official visits the team’s verdict was unanimous – the jewellery industry is a class act.

Every time I stepped into a store I was taken aback by the warm reception and professionalism on display. As a journalist writing about the jewellery industry it was refreshing to get out and meet those of you working in the industry, facing the challenges prevalent in the market yet still delivering top-notch customer service.

Each of the stores I visited were doing something different from each other and offering a great service to their customers. From solid customer service at Beaverbrooks located in the amazing Westfield’s shopping centre, to the eclectic array of designers on offer at EC One, fresh glossy appeal of Rox in Aberdeen (you can’t not love a store that shows Girls Aloud on a giant video screen and where manager Alan used to be a champion ice-skater), to the traditional somewhat colonial elegance of Prestons of Bolton and the striking designs at Assya - choosing winners in their respective categories is going to be no mean feat.

Here are a few snaps for your viewing pleasure:

This year will be my first UK Jewellery awards, and I can’t wait. I hope none of you can either.

See you all July 15.
