Lucy Reece-Raybould, executive director for business development and marketing at the Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ), is set to leave the organisation and the jewellery industry effective May 17.
Reece-Raybould, who has been with the CMJ for nearly 10 years and has a wealth of experience in the UK watch and jewellery market, leaves to take up the role of chief executive of the British Footwear Association – the trade association for the footwear industry based in Northamptonshire.
Prior to joining the CMJ in 2010, Reece-Raybould had a long career in the watch industry and has held senior positions at the likes of Inter City, Spring Colour and Swatch Group.
Commenting on her departure, Michael Aldridge chairman of the CMJ, said: “Lucy has played a key role in helping CMJ to establish itself as the leading buying group for independent jewellery and watch retailers in the UK, and she leaves with the blessings of the Board.
“We have started the recruitment process and will ensure that we will recruit the best person to work alongside the board and take us to the next level. That person must come with grit and vision and be prepared to lobby our members’ best interests and help to maintain and improve the fantastic working relationships members and suppliers now enjoy.”
Speaking exclusively to Retail Jeweller, Reece-Raybould added: “The last 10 years have been amazing on so many levels. I’ve had the privilege of working with brilliant people at CMJ head office, every one of whom is incredibly dedicated to supporting our members and suppliers.”
She continued: “CMJ is such a wonderful model of co-operation; I have tried over the last 10 years to bring my industry family together, and have enjoyed every minute of working with the most amazing retailers across the UK and our myriad of brilliant suppliers. You all hold a special place in my heart and I will continue to value so, so many of you as very special friends.
“I would like to take a moment to also thank everyone who has supported, guided and listened to me over the last 10 years. You all know who you are and I couldn’t have achieved what I have without your friendship, thank you.”
