In Retail Jeweller’s first Rising Stars 30 Under 30 supplement we present the amazing young talent that exists in the industry. Here we look at Leigh Stutman.
Precious metals reclamation (sales division), Presman Mastermelt
DOB 18/10/88 Age 26
Stutman joined Presman Mastermelt in 2012 as a receptionist, but had bigger plans and wanted to be a reclamation consultant.
In order to realise her ambition, Stutman had to learn the business from the beginning, and she did this by working with each section of jewellery processing departments, including account administration and even the melt and incineration departments.
Described by managing director Gary Williams as a “quick and enthusiastic learner”, Stutman was calling on customers just a few months into her role, advising them on how to reclaim their workshop waste and maximise their returns.
She now works closely with the designer-maker community in the UK and presents regular seminars to groups across the UK, as well advising businesses on a one-to-one basis.
Last year, Stutman was acclaimed by the trade for her starring role in the ITV 1 documentary, Diamond Geezers and Gold Dealers, about life behind the scenes in Hatton Garden.
