Sokolov withdraws from UK market

Russian jewellery brand Sokolov is believed to have withdrawn from the UK market just six months after its official launch at International Jewellery London (IJL) in September last year.

Retail Jeweller understands that the Russian brand, which was being headed up in the UK by Henrik Leth Moller, has scaled back its international operations and will no longer be looking for retail representation here.

The UK team, which Moller put together, and included Stephen Todd, Katie Tremble, Zee Robinson and Kim Kennedy-Howe is believed to have been disbanded.

Sokolov received a positive reaction from UK retailers when it debuted its predominantly 14ct gold collections at IJL in September, picking up around 50 stockists.

Retailers that bought into the collection are believed to have been contacted directly to inform them of the brand’s decision.

Sokolov’s operation in its home market of Russia, where it runs its own jewellery production facility employing 3,400 people, is thought to be unaffected.
