Swarovski enjoys strong growth in watch category

Jewellery and crystal behemoth Swarovski has seen strong year-on-year growth in its watch category with sales up by over 30%.

Speaking to Retail Jeweller, as the brand unveiled several new watch lines at BaselWorld yesterday (March 23), creative director Nathalie Colin explained that last year Swarosvki produced one million watches and this year this number will increase to 1.3m.

“Jewellery is still our core and represents 75% of our business but watches will continue to be very close to our core and we see them as complementary to our jewellery collections by providing our signature look with a function.”

The brand used BaselWorld to unveil a number of new watch designs including additions to existing best-sellers in new colourways.

Colin also revealed that later on in the year Swarovski would be releasing a new range of fully composible jewellery which can be customised to the wearers needs using a magnetic clasp to join pieces together.

Inspiration for the forthcoming AW17 jewellery collections comes from three themes of Urban Fantasy, Organic Architecture and Fireworks, the latter of which will tie into the brand’s holiday season ranges, released in time for Christmas.
