F. Hinds to close Andover store

F. Hinds will officially close its Chantry Centre store in Andover on May 27 after almost 30 year in the town.

The company says the decision to close the store is due to the imminent end of its lease and local economic pressures.

There are four F. Hinds’ stores in neighbouring regions – Newbury, Southampton, Swindon and Basingstoke – which the company hopes will be convenient for loyal customers.

F. Hinds has said it will “do all it can” to transfer staff members from the Andover branch to other stores. The multiple retailer first opened a store on Andover High Street in 1988. It later moved into the Chantry Centre in the 1990s.

The store is the third big name to announce its departure from the Chantry Centre so far this year. Argos announced it will be moving to a different location in the town later in March, whilst Carphone Warehouse closed in February.

Other recent centre departures include Cash Converters and Oxfam.
