Vital statistics

My name is Kate and I’m a stats addict.

After a hard day’s work writing news, researching features and managing the Retail Jeweller website I indulge myself with a cup of tea and an analysis session of the graphs and charts that tell me how many people have visited that day and how long they spent reading the latest jewellery, product, trends and business news and articles.

As a result, I leave the office in one of two moods - jubilant that we are continuing to get our online offering right or disappointed that the stats of the day before have not been trumped.

Either way I come back the next day determined to shame the stats of the previous 24 hours.

Thankfully stat-euphoria has been the dominant mood of late, with our visitor numbers rocketing and growing healthily month on month.
I’m regularly surprised by the by the amount of interest in the “who’s wearing what” celebrity news stories and delighted that that the business issue based stories and articles and the new product stories also get your clicks.

The click-throughs from our twice-weekly newsletter reveal that the selective content of our newsletters is also appealing to your thirst for retailer news.

With that in mind, if you’re one of the few people reading this who hasn’t already signed up for our twice-weekly newsletter then now is the time to do so. Once you have filled in the simple registration form online and ticked the newsletter box, you will receive an e-newsletter on a Tuesday and Thursday direct to your in-box. If you don’t have time to scroll through the website then the newsletter will do it for you, providing links to the need-to-know news, articles and blogs that have been posted online in during the preceding few days. I’ve put together a wee guide on how to sign-up and some screen grabs to illustrate the process.

To sign-up for the newsletters on, just click on the ‘Register now’ link,

1. Fill in your details and press submit

2. Click on ‘manage your e-mail newsletters’

3. finally tick the ‘Twice-weekly newsletter’ box and the ‘HTML’ radio button (if you want the newsletter in its full-colour glory), tick the ‘Terms and Conditions’ box and press submit [see below]:
